About Shaun Tomson
Shaun Tomson has been listed as one of the 25 most influential surfers of the century and as one of the 16 greatest surfers of all time. He has also clocked up more wins at the Gunston 500, now known as the Mr Price Pro - Durban's legendary international surf contest - than any other international surfer.
Tomson is the author of the best-selling motivational book Surfer's Code- 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life and producer of the award-winning documentary film Bustin' Down the Door.
Surfrider Foundation is the world's largest surfing environmental with 60,000 members and Shaun was the first professional surfer to join when it started in 1984 and he has been an ambassador ever since. The Foundation is dedicated to protecting the world's waves, oceans and beaches and Shaun is now on the board of directors. For his environmental efforts specifically regarding stopping ocean pollution in California, USA, the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association awarded him with the Environmentalist of the Year Award in 2002.
